Still trying to figure out how people predict inventory needs so accurately

I’ve been running my little packaging supply business in Ajman for about a year and a half now and honestly the one thing that still keeps me up at night is forecasting what I’m actually going to need from one month to the next. Every time I think I’ve got a handle on demand something shifts and suddenly I’m either sitting on way too much stock of something or scrambling to rush order things I should have seen coming. I’ve been reading up on how standard processes improve business forecasting because I suspect a lot of my problem comes from having too much variation in what I’m stocking and no real consistency in how I track usage patterns. Came across this piece about packaging standardization that made me realize I might be making things way harder on myself by carrying such a wide range of box sizes and materials when I could probably consolidate a bunch of them without actually affecting what my customers need. Seems obvious now that I say it out loud but I got so used to saying yes to every request that I ended up with this monster inventory that’s impossible to predict.
