Orlando Ortiz, MD
Professor of Radiology
New York University
Dr. Ortiz majored in Bio-psychology and received his BA degree at Columbia College. He earned his MD at Harvard Medical School, and holds an MBA from West Virginia University. He completed a 4 year Residency in Radiology at Long Island Jewish Hospital and a 2-year Fellowship in diagnostic and interventional Neuroradiology at The Neurological Institute of Columbia University. Dr. Ortiz is currently Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, and holds an appointment as Professor of Clinical Radiology at Stony Brook University. Dr. Ortiz has received numerous teaching awards in recognition of his academic commitment while at Winthrop. Dr. Ortiz is an active leader in the Radiology community; among his many leadership roles, he is a past President of the American Society of Spine Radiology, has served on the Patient Safety Task Force for North American Spine Society and is a frequently invited faculty member at the scientific meetings of major national and international radiologic societies. He has over 100 scientific presentations to his credit and is widely published, including some of the most widely-accepted key instructional pieces for vertebral augmentation and other spine interventions. He has performed over 1000 vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty and sacroplasty procedures and thousands of other spine interventions.
