Dr. Awan is a professor of MSK radiology at the University of Maryland, with a special interest in education and informatics. Dr. Awan is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Imaging Informatics. Clinically, he interprets all Musculoskeletal examinations including radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine studies, as well as performing minimally invasive interventional procedures such as soft tissue and bone biopsies.Dr. Awan’s career priorities include creating and implementing innovative teaching methods and educational assessment tools to make the learning experience more meaningful and productive for all of his trainees, students, and mentees. Dr. Awan remains a strong advocate for audience response tools in education, helping bring RSNA Diagnosis Live to the department of radiology at the University of Maryland. He is also the administrator for the department wide teaching file and i the faculty advisor for the radiology global health elective offered to the radiology residents. Dr. Awan’s research interests include MSK tumors, trauma, radiology education, quality improvement, and Imaging Informatics.
